All jumps ropes are designed for different skill levels. Ropes that are produced with dense material leather in particular can provide greater speed then lighter cotton made jump ropes. As well, cotton jump ropes are less injurious to children and adults if hit by the swinging jump ropes.

Physical educators may use the different types of jump ropes as an incentive and advancement into the next higher level; cotton jump ropes for the beginner, leather or even the jump rope with the counters for the advanced jumper. “If you can turn the rope 20 times in thirty seconds you can advance to the leather rope” the teacher says to the student.
Children's progress while jump roping can be tangibly measured by three different criterions:
1. Number of turns per minutes. 2. How many turns per minute. 3. How many minutes does it take to turn 30 turns.

There’s no need to post or graph the progress. We recommend that the teacher/child use his own prior score to measure his progress, especially in pre-school or kindergarten.

In addition to making the movement education class safer, class size can be increased due to the proper and efficient use of directional floor markers, arrows, and stars!
